Wilmott and Sayula to jointly develop real-time collaborative spreadsheet analytical models for the Web.
20 November 2006. Wilmott and Sayula announced today their agreement for a joint development project and a formal business partnership. As part of the agreement, Mr. Paul Wilmott, director and chief editor of Wilmott.com and Wilmott magazine, and Mr. Paul Shaw, CEO of 7city Learning, the financial training company of which Mr. Wilmott is a senior lecturer, have both accepted a seat in Sayula's board of directors.
The highlight activity scheduled in the partnership agreement's timeline is the "Wilmott's Live Models" project, a joint development of real-time spreadsheet analytical models to be supported by Sayula's Anima distributed infrastructure platform and to be hosted by Wilmott's popular Quantitative Finance community website (wilmott.com). The Live Models project will include the ability for Wilmott registered users to contribute to the site by remotely deploying their own analytic libraries and the spreadsheet models that use them. The spreadsheets can then be accessed and interacted with in real time through any standard web browser. "We are very excited about partnering with Sayula and believe our joint project will bring a significant contribution to the Quantitative Finance community. It has always been Wilmott's purpose to foster the development of Quantitative Finance theory and ideas through information sharing and practice, and now Sayula is bringing the technology to greatly further our capability to deliver on it", Said Paul Wilmott. "We can see Live Models used both as ideal didactic instruments to interactively illustrate the application and use of Wilmott's magazine-introduced theoretical models, and as real benchmarking devices which actual practitioners can access and contribute to in real time", Mr. Wilmott added. Cristian Alzati, Sayula's President and CEO commented: "We are honored to have both Paul Wilmott and Paul Shaw joining Sayula's board. Our business partnership and more specifically the Live Models project are the ideal vehicles to broaden Anima's awareness from the people who could exploit its real-time analytics connectivity capabilities to their fullest, namely the Quantitative Finance community. We are also delighted to be able to make a significant contribution to this community, and firmly believe the exposure that this service will give us will greatly further Sayula's business development outlook." Sayula's flagship product Anima Enterprise comprises a multi OS grid computing framework, a high-performance add-in transparently integrating the framework's features in Microsoft Excel, and a real-time Flash client spreadsheet application that makes Excel documents available on the Internet. Some of Anima standard features are multi-vendor market data retrieving and contributing functions, multi-vendor relational DB access, and the ability to dynamically integrate proprietary or third-party analytic libraries.
